B listed Lodge Conversion – Dwelling and Restaurant- Loch Lomond

A refurbishment, conversion and extension of  a grade B listed Lodge and Coach House building into a licensed cafe /restaurant and two dwellings.New structures have been designed with sympathetic proportions, respectfully meeting and addressing the Lodge’s existing qualities. Our proposal is to  develop the Lodge and the Estate sensitively and sustainably into a licensed cafe / restaurant and dwellings in the form of a studio flat and family home. The focus of the design is to retain the grade B listed external appearance, complimenting it with a contemporary and expressive design that welcomes, comforts and creates a perfect public ambience for social activity.Stuckgowan Lodge, Loch LomondThe arrangement of the new build elements is specifically designed around the creation of a cafe / restaurant area within the former stable area of the Lodge buildings. The design is sympathetic to the building and it’s environment with new extensions complementing existing old structures.  Clear distinctions between old and new are achieved through a contemporary use of materials and a modern architectural language that expresses the quality of the inside and the overall standards of the design.

Roof overhangs and recessed entrances will provide shelters for the users as well as allowing for clearly defined entrances and creating a structure that respects the scale and quality of the existing building.
The proposed timber cladding of the new extensions will bring a softer, warmer and more tactile surface to the context. The zinc cladding will add a modern identity to the Lodge and when wet will reflect the palette and quality of the surrounding forest.
